The Bloggers Breast Cancer Awareness Raffle!!

I’ve been meaning to do another post on TBBCAR for ages but life has sort of got in the way. And suddenly we’re in October and Wear It Pink day (which I was planning to be ‘go live’ day) is like two weeks away! Eeeek! But I still want to MAKE THIS HAPPEN. You guys in?

What’s happening?
So, the reason why I haven’t heard of an online raffle before is because it’s sort of illegal – because money is changing hands, it’s classified as gambling. You can apply for a license but it’s tricky, and BCC (Breast Cancer Campaign, who run Wear It Pink) are discouraging it.

The way to get around it is to hold the raffle for one day only – which we can do – and just promote the heck out of it in the run up to that day.

When?
The raffle day is 28 October 2011. Tickets are £2 each

How to buy:
On 28 October ONLY, any donation to the #TBBCAR JustGiving page will automatically go into the draw for raffle tickets. So if you donate £10, you will have purchased 5 raffle tickets, and your name will go into a numbered list.

Raffle ticket sales will be open from 00.00 – 23:59 on 28/10/11.

Any donations made outside this time will still go to Breast Cancer Campaign, but you will NOT be in with a chance to win.

Raffle winners will be drawn on 29 October 2011 using Random.org and announced on my blog.

How you can help:

Spread the word!
Throughout October use your blog, twitter, facebook or even just your voice to tell people about #TBBCAR. Anyone can buy tickets – they don’t need to have a blog. And post this badge to your blogs!

Gather prizes!
Lots of people have donated little bits and bobs like jewellery, which is really really appreciated and great to pad out the raffle, but I have to think about the kind of products that will make people want to spend £2 a ticket.

We need BIG things.

So if you work for a company that might be able to donate vouchers or products, or have any contacts who can help, see what you can do. It doesn’t have to be fashion/beauty related, but the majority of people buying tickets will be 20-30 year old ladies so if you work for, say, a hardware company, I’m not sure how much interest that will get! (But they can still donate!)

I’m going to email some brands etc who I’ve done blog stuff with before – PLEASE do the same. The more brands we get involved, the bigger this will be. I’ll be prodding some other bloggers into helping me over the next few days, but if you can send off some enquiries and link them through to this post so they can see what we’re all about, that would be a great help.
